Lancaster and Morecambe Men's seconds had to call on their veteran umpire Laurie Gornall to stand in goal on Saturday away at Manchester giants Didsbury. Phil Preston kindly gave up his game to travel to umpire. Lancaster and Morecambe were depleted by injuries and Gornall was soon called on to deflect a shot onto the post. Despite the score line the visitors equalled the home sides shots on goal but found the Didsbury keeper in fine form. The visitors' new players Gerrie de Beer and George Manklow had impressive debuts and as a result will keep their places for next week. Lancaster and Morecambe improved in the second half and passed the ball very well. Ben Brookes worked tirelessly up front and bagged a brace. The team fought well until the end and 11 tired players left nothing on the pitch.
